New Lithium Battery For Commercial UAV

NEC Energy Devices company announced the day before, it is developed for lithium ion secondary battery two commercial UAV prototype, and plans to launch products. NEC newly developed a higher capacity than the unit weight of the cathode material, high power output when the weight of the energy density of the company's original products increased by about 33%. In this way, compared with the original products of the company, under the same weight, the flight time and flight distance of the UAV can be prolonged by about 33%, and the battery can be reduced by about 25% under the same energy value. At the same time, the electrode resistance can be reduced by optimizing the composition of the electrode, and the energy density (energy per unit weight) can be increased by 40% compared with the original product. By virtue of this, can also improve the following output current in the UAV's rapid rise and rapid decline, the long time stable flight can reduce the effect of the wind, but also in the case of low temperature heating battery at about -10 degrees of flight.          

In addition, the new development of the battery is optimized by the combination of electrode materials, electrolyte, additives, the durability of repeated charge and discharge is 10% higher than the company's original product. The durability of the equivalent of two times the level of ordinary lithium polymer battery more than two times, to help extend battery life, thereby reducing the cost of application, and the battery in the insulating membrane cathode and anode used in the high-temperature resistance of the products, to ensure safety.          

In the future, the company will be repeated experiments in the actual natural environment, to promote the realization of mass production. The product is scheduled to begin sales in the first quarter of 2017, the goal is to achieve sales of 2 billion yen in 2018.
